a few thoughts on 206 'scene'
hi guys i attended the Perth french car day last wekend and suprisingly i had the only 206 in attendence. Of all the french marques pugeot had the highest number of entries with the majority being later models, in particular there was a lot of cars from 207 and up, and few 306 & 406. What seemed strange is that i had quite a bit of interest from people having owned a gti or RC in the past but had moved onto an updated pug or vw golf, RS clio or megane. As such i tend to think the 206 popularity (or lack of at the moment) is cyclical. when it was the lastest thing out people got hold of one (but now moved on driving 207s etc), and then the interest dried up. I tend to to think its currently in transition between the 'new fad' phase and being that affordable car performance option for younger drivers (more likely to be memeber of forums like this one). once the 180 comes down to around 12 to 15 k bracket i rekon there will some bandwagon jumping, get on one now before they get thrashed is what i'd reccommend.

very valid thoughts. its a real shame about everybody 'moving on' to newer or different cars.

IMO the GTi 180 is a great car which I currently own but I am not inspired by any of the new model Pug cars in performance and looks. I am now in the dilema to what I will buy next.

Re: a few thoughts on 206 'scene'
i stumbled into peugeot ownership purely due to circumstance. my 83 v8 was past its used by date (i.e it died!) and i needed a car, didnt want an 8 because of fuel but still wanted something a bit more exciting then a 1.8L granny mobile. I research hatches and it came down to the clio, pug or astraT. turns out the 180 was the best car in my budget ($16.5K) so i snapped it up.
in the last year and bit of ownership i have only grown to love my 180 even more and have become interested in peugeot Gti cars in generaly. but as with above post, i too dont find any pug car currently made appealling. especially now that the GTi badge is finished i doubt i will be putting my hard earned on a new pug in the future.

That's why I am moving to Golf, yes they are expensive and great if you can afford it but i think you truly get what you pay for in that package especially the Mark V. Hope they are not going down the same path that Peugeot did with the Mark 6.
