Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
Replaced the 16" Sumitomos that were there when I bought it with a set of Marangoni Zeta Lineas about three weeks ago. The old tyres still had 3 - 3.5mm left all round and they were still reasonable, but that was all. So far, no complaints at all with the new ones except that they keep picking up gumnuts in the gaps

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
Hey all - hijacking/reigniting this thread... looking for votes on which tyres to go for. I'm in the $200 to $250 price bracket and currently tossing up between the following in a 205/45 R16:
- Bridgestone Adrenalin
- Dunlop Sport Maxx
- Good Year Eagle F1 (currently running these)
Thoughts on which to go with based on your experience would be much appreciated!
Cheers

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
Have been considering the Toyo's but feedback from calling various dealers so far is that they don't wear or perform quite as well as the Dunlops. That being said they do grip brilliantly (ran them in my Honda previously) but i do do a fair bit of commuting so I guess its finding that balance between performance and longevity...

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
I can't comment on durability since I've only had my Adrenalins for 2 months (still looking good). Previously, I had the Eagle F1 but they were already mostly worn out when I bought the car in Dec last year.
I usually drive to work/back and also do 2x3 hours drive every alternate week. So performance and comfort is quite important to me.
The Eagle F1s were really noisy (maybe it's the cheapo versions.. seems like you need to buy the made in europe versions?). Reviews will confirm this.
The Adrenalins have been great. Ultra quiet and haven't once experience any grip issues, wet/dry. They are also "australian made". Not all bridgestone models are but this one is

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
Awesome - thanks for that. The Adrenalins got a very good write up in wheels magazine.
Couple of ppl I've spoken to so far through tyre dealerships have given them good endorsements and have recommended them over both the Dunlop and Good Year in terms of performance and durability.
In re to the F1's, I've had non European ones fitted to an old Honda and they were absolutely shocking. The F1's I have fitted to the pug atm are the proper Made in Germany ones and they are worlds apart - a great tyre and would have no problem fitting them again. That said, when you push them, I don't think they have quite as much grip as I'd want, hence why I'm now shopping around...
Wouldn't it be nice if tyre places would just give you a set of tyres and say 'here you go, flog the living s**t out of these for a couple of weeks and if you don't like them, just bring 'em back and you can pick out some new ones to try'....

Marangoni Zeta Linea. Very happy with all aspects so far, ranging from stop start in town to a recent Nowra - Canberra via Kangaroo Valley return trip with 4 people. Overall, quiet, precise and entertaining; the tyres, not the passengers! $900 a couple of months ago incl an alignment. Only time will tell for mileage, so can't help you there. Regards

Cheers rachel - have never heard of these before but just googled it and yeah lots of positive comments. Will certainly add these to the short list - actually I think it will be a choice between these and the Bridgestone.

Bob Jane. I think retail is about $1100, so definitely worth negotiating. Very good in the current deluges down here, but don't try on squishy clay, ok?

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
Decision made... Marangoni Zetalinea at $179 a corner. Booked in to be fitted Saturday so will let everyone know how they go.
Close second choice was the Bridgestone at $235 a corner with the advice that they are as good as the Marangoni.
Good thing is as well that they have told me that if I'm not happy with them after a couple of days I can bring it back and they'll fit the Bridgestones instead - gotta be happy with that.

Re: Tyres, for 206 Gti
As for longevity on the Zeta's my set have done about 20,000Km on the front wheels and still have 3-4mm before the low tred markers.
The compund seems to have gotten harder & less grippy. eg. hammering the throttle at any point in 1st in the wet results in wheels spinning. Whereas I'm sure they stuck like glue even in the wet when new.
